Chewbacka Grizelda. .
I've made so many awesome friends over at Facebook. I picked up two new brothers and a sister, gained a lot of gaming friends, and learned how valuable it is to have a real support group of people who root for me when life throws me some curve ball. I've become an online activist, rather haphazardly I suppose, but nonetheless. I even sometimes take all that into the real world. But even that is a result of my having been over at Facebook for a bit. However, due to some of their policies which have been abused by a complete stranger to me, and because I can see for myself that it's never wise to put any of your eggs in someone else's basket, I've decided to move as much as possible away from Facebook. This site isn't quite the same, but I'm glad you took the time to get to know me if you are visiting me after meeting me on Facebook! If you haven't met me through Facebook, or one of the other social sites I've enjoyed using over the years, feel free to have a look around, be sure to read the FAQ, and Contact me to wave and say "hi!" If you have a Facebook account, go ahead and request my friendship, and send me an Inbox Message saying you found me here at ChewyGrizzy.(weebly.)com. So long as my profile is still active over there, so will I be. But I want my things housed here forever, on my own site, so this is the best place to find those. And please do leave comments on my blog! I know some of you like to be lurkers, and that's ok, but I really gain a great deal from it when you do leave comments, ask questions, answer the ones I pose, and generally keep up with communication!
More about me.
I'll start with the easy stuff. I'm officially single by choice, not just because I never married. I've dated, been through the equivalent of a marriage and a divorce, and I've learned the hard way just how it is I want to go about dating/relationships, when that comes up again in the future. In the meantime, I'm very happy just to focus on having my beloved cats, Sam, who I adopted about half way through 2011, pretty much as my "kid"... And Brandy, who got abandoned by her previous (and very irresponsible) owner. I love focusing all my familial attention on them! For the record, I'm straight/cis.
As for my attraction preferences, essentially, I like male bodies that house more sensitive souls. By sensitive, I don't mean only to one's own needs, but also to the needs of those they care about.
I'm a psuedo-atheistic. Heh, go figure that one out! I'm a Moderate-Liberal Independent, and I believe in freedom, so long as it doesn't cause needless pain or death. To find out what really turns me on and off, get to know me a bit more personally :) Just... Also don't pry where you don't belong when you don't belong there, and I'll respect you the same way.
I'm a general artist (multi-media), am into human rights, peaceful pro-activism, equality, and just about the only things I hate are bigotry and hypocrisy. Stupidity is a close third, but even that is in the eye of the beholder. I believe in balancing love with logic, where possible. I do try to work things out with people -- but if someone makes it obvious that they really aren't interested in actually working things out... I do move on, knowing what I'm worth, and that that's all I need to know.
I was on Unemployment when I took Sam in. That was possibly the riskiest, and the best, decision I made all year in 2011! I'm seriously in love with the critter, he's an absolute sweet-heart! By the time I brought Brandy in, I had been through a whole other job and was out the door again, and had already exhausted my UI and EUC benefits.
I'm a born, bred, and die-hard Star Trek fan who has dabbled a lot in Stargate (SG-1, primarily), and a bit in Star Wars. I'm proud to be an ever learning Geek - I love web design, actual hard-coding, and always get some kick out of learning yet another language that helps in web implementation/administration.
I do enjoy reading, but it has to be what I consider relevant, fun, attention-getting... It has to be something I can relate to in some way -- or that teaches me something too cool to miss out on. Average novels just... Don't really do it for me.
Another cause I'm into is Fair Trade Certified imported products, such as chocolate/cocoa, coffee, sugar, tea, cotton... That last one's hard to find and even harder to afford, so I admit it: I'm weak on that, but most of my clothes are recycled through Good Will and related stores anyway. Where food is concerned, I have a LOT more control, and I use that buying power in EVERY purchase possible, which is 99% of the time. Would that we lived in an ideal nation whose government cared more about things like this.
I support the general cause of the Occupy movement. Due to police brutality and how I'm already living on a very thin thread, and I do have a cat that depends on me, I will not be participating in any of the actual Occupations. However... I do what else I can. My normal banking is done at a credit union (has been for 20 years, with only one very short-lived stint eons ago with a large bank and I'll NEVER go back...). I support local moms-and-pops before looking for stuff at larger stores.
I never got a degree: I had to work full time to support myself. What else do I do? I pass on links to all the crazy, weird, idiot stories that give the truth of the soul of capitalism. I let people see for themselves what this country is currently made of. I also pass on the links to stories about people who do the right thing: we all need a feel-good now and then.
I'm a huge supporter of the right we all have to be individuals. I have a brother with severe classic Autism, and I'll support any cause that actually does benefit him and others like him. He is a person, he has rights, but he is unable to exercise those rights at this time: and that is what needs fixing - not him for who he is or something.
I have several friends who are supporters of or members of the LGBT community. Because of all I've learned through these friends, I too support the rights of this community to have the same benefits as everyone else. Whether that's the right to marry, the right to equal taxation benefits, the right to use whichever bathroom they choose... I feel almost silly having to write that - I'm in the wrong era. Two hundred years from now, our great grand-kids will look back and wonder how we could have ever been so petty as to even -think- that those rights shouldn't be given to every US Citizen. Really, to everyone in the world.
I have several friends who I've made -because- I don't choose a religion, nor do I hold one up higher than any other. Rather, I choose my friends and I uphold each of you, regardless of and above whatever religions you choose, if any at all. To me, people are far more valuable than religious ideas, and while I support each of you in your own choices, the one thing I refuse to tolerate is anyone insulting or mistreating someone else in the name of their own religion.
I am a No-Bully-Zone. That doesn't mean I won't tell it like I see it, but it does mean that I don't allow personal attacks, towards myself or towards anyone else. I couldn't care less if -ideas- are attacked! Every idea should withstand scrutiny, or it's not worth hanging onto! We would be nowhere at all if no one had any thoughts, and if debate never happened. However, treating people like they're stupid, making personal attacks, and generally not even giving a person a chance: these kinds of things are simply not allowed around here. Be forewarned about that, before you leave nasty, rude, cruel, or mean comments towards me or other people whose comments you may read. Haha - I have the power to delete any of your comments, and I will use it if forced to. I invite you to move on if you don't enjoy being in a safe environment of asking to learn, of soaking in new info, and of scrutinizing new ideas rather than people for who they are. This is a place of respect, and I make sure it stays that way. And hell hath no fury like what happens when you cut down on me or someone else around here.
I love chocolate, I sometimes stay up far too late for my own good, I hate housework unless I'm in a good mood and have to do it anyway, but I LOVE cooking weird, crazy foods no one but me would ever eat. I'm allergic to casein, I rarely bother to buy eggs, so that makes me almost completely vegan. I don't drink, I never tried drugs or cigarettes, and I think both should be by prescription only (ok, now a bunch of you are going to disown me, but I can't help that, it's just what I think), and the rest? NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS unless I decide to tell you privately :)
